Er ist ein goldbraun getiegerter Kater. Dornenkralles Mentorin ist Mausefell. Er ist der Sohn von Frostfell und der Bruder von Farnpelz, Rußpelz und Maisherz. Seine Schüler sind Zinderherz, Spitzmauspfote und Mohnfrost.
